Repeat Offender Burglary Suspect Arrested
Getting repeat offenders in jail is one of our priorities here at APD. Atlanta Police worked with a hotel security team this week to get one of them off of our streets.
On September 25, at around 4 p.m., an Atlanta Police Officer responded to 45 Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard regarding a burglary at the W Hotel. Hotel security advised a customer had reported that someone entered his room during the night and took his laptop and wallet. Hotel security began reviewing surveillance camera footage and found the suspect on the property. The officer took the suspect into custody and located the victim’s identification card and credit cards in his possession.
The suspect was determined to be 33-year-old Orico McCaskill. McCaskill is well known to the Atlanta Police, having been arrested multiple times for theft-related crimes. He was arrested in 2013 for a hotel room burglary and sentenced to 10 years in prison. McCaskill was released in December of 2015 and in June of 2016, he was identified as the suspect in a hotel room robbery at 45 Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard where he threatened to shoot the occupant during the incident. In December of 2016, he was identified as a suspect in another hotel room burglary. The Atlanta Police Department also arrested McCaskill in 2012 for theft from a hotel, theft from a business, escape and obstruction; 2009 for a hotel room burglary, terroristic threats, false information to officers, and criminal trespass; 2008 for criminal trespass, financial transaction card fraud, financial transaction card theft and entering auto; and 2006 for false information to officers, criminal trespass and financial identity fraud.
