Alert Zone 2 officers worked together to arrest four juveniles and an adult riding in Buckhead in a stolen car shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning. Atlanta Police officers noticed a Dodge Stratus speeding with its high beam lights on near the 3000 block of Powers Ferry Road. Officers stopped the car, but the driver sped away. The driver bailed from the moving vehicle and he and one of the passengers fled on foot through Chastain Park. An Atlanta Police officer caught the passenger after a lengthy foot chase. With assistance from a Sandy Springs K-9 unit, officers were able to locate and apprehend the driver. The vehicle they were riding in was later determined to be stolen. Arrested were Garris Griffin, 29, and four juveniles, two aged 15 and two aged 14. All were charged with auto theft. Griffin and one of the 15-year-olds were charged with obstruction. The Atlanta Police Department has been targeting enforcement of the city’s curfew law for juveniles this summer and currently pursuing potential charges for violations as a result of this incident.
