Community Oriented Policing Section

COPS Objectives:

  1. The alignment of organizational management, structure, personnel, and information systems to support community partnerships and proactive problem-solving efforts.
  2. To develop and implement proactive and preventive law enforcement strategies that directly interface with the Atlanta Police Department's efforts to reduce crime and disorder.
  3. To increase the knowledge, understanding, and application of the philosophy of Community Policing and its application to current neighborhood governances, and to compare past practices and assumptions of traditional policing to improve law enforcement service delivery.
  4. to build collaborative partnerships between police, community stakeholders through organizing and healthy community team building.
