Commanding Officer: Vincent Moore

The Chief of Staff serves as a link between the Chief of Police and the various Departmental components. Chief of Staff consists of the following units:

  1. The Public Affairs Unit serves as a liaison between the Atlanta Police Department, the community, and the news media, to provide timely, accurate and useful information about significant events. The Public Affairs Office also advises the Chief and the command staff on public opinion and news media response regarding Departmental issues.
  2. The Public Affairs Office coordinates the presentation of annual award ceremonies and memorial services.
  3. The Planning and Research / Accreditation Unit performs planning and research functions and manages the written directive system for the Department. The unit is charged with maintaining compliance with accreditation standards.
    The Chaplaincy Corps provides employees with emotional support during times of need.
