Preliminary Information: On 6/29/23 around 10:22pm, officers responded to a person shot at the location of 1043 Sparks St SW. Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Grady EMS responded to the scene and transported the male to the hospital for treatment. The shooter, who is also the victim’s mother, identified as 34-year-old Jaquana Butler, remained on scene. Preliminary investigation indicates a dispute occurred between Ms. Butler and her son over a video game console which escalated to gunfire. Ms. Butler revealed a firearm during the dispute and shot the victim multiple times before units arrived on scene. Ms. Butler was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Reckless Conduct and Cruelty to Children and was transported to the Fulton County Jail. The investigation continues.
