Preliminary Release: On 7/12/23, around 1:13am, officers responded to 2066 Perkerson Rd SW in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located an overturned vehicle that appeared to have been in an accident. The driver of the vehicle was on scene and sustained a gunshot wound. He was alert, conscious and breathing and transported to the hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in the process of repossessing a defaulted contracted vehicle. The victim was then confronted and shot by a suspect(s) occupying a white Sedan after recovering the defaulted contracted vehicle. The victim attempted to flee from the suspect and was shot during the process, leading to the crash. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
