On July 9, 2025, the Airport Operations Center at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport received a 911 call reporting a man cutting through a fence and entering the air operations area.
A coordinated search for the suspect was immediately undertaken involving the Atlanta Police Department’s Airport Special Response Team, K-9 Officers, and airport operations units.
During the search, an airport maintenance employee spotted the suspect lying in grass near a runway. The Department of Aviation briefly called for an air-stop on flights for the nearby runway and officers quickly responded taking the male into custody. The tools the suspect used to enter the air operations area were located nearby.
The suspect was identified as Kevin Peters.
Mr. Peters was charged with:
- Criminal Trespass
- Interference with Government Property
- Possession of Tools During the Commission of a Crime
- Giving a False Name
- Criminal Damage to Property in the Second Degree
- Walton County Sheriff’s Office Warrant
