Preliminary information: On August 31, 2025, at approximately 10:23 a.m., Atlanta Police Zone 3 officers responded to a report of a person shot near Lakewood Ave. SW & Nelms Dr. SW. Upon arriving on the scene, officers located a 41-year-old male victim who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was alert, conscious, and breathing, and transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim may have shot by a known suspect near 2217 Nelms Dr. SW.

Investigators with the Aggravated Assault Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
