Preliminary Statement: On October 8th, 2025, 28-year-old Derrick Groves was taken into custody in the 2100 block of Honeysuckle Lane SW by the United States Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in conjunction with the Atlanta Police Department and the Clayton County Police Department. Mr. Groves became a wanted fugitive after escaping the Orleans Parish City Jail along with nine others in May of 2025. Mr. Groves had previously been convicted of two counts of Murder, two counts of Attempted Murder (sentenced to life imprisonment), and a federal firearms charge (sentenced to five years imprisonment). Mr. Groves was the last outstanding escapee and he will be extradited back to Louisiana for processing.
