On December 27, 2025, at approximately 7:16 p.m., the Atlanta Police Department responded to Atlantic Station in support of Atlantic Station’s security team regarding a report of unsupervised/unaccompanied juveniles fighting at 1371 Market Street SW. Upon arrival, officers encountered a very large crowd of young people. During the investigation, it was determined that fireworks had been ignited in and around Atlantic Station.  

APD began coordinating a strategic and safe dispersal of the crowd. As part of the dispersal effort, additional resources were deployed from across the city, including the Phoenix Air Unit, the K-9 Unit, and the Georgia State Patrol. No injuries were reported.

At approximately 9:44PM, during the continued dispersal effort, officers observed a group of juveniles exchanging gunfire near 17th Street and Spring Street SW, resulting in damage to nearby businesses. Only property damage was reported. Five juveniles were detained as part of the investigation.  The investigation continues for the appropriate charges.  No injuries were reported.

Preliminary information: On December 27, 2025, at around 7:16 PM, Atlanta police responded to reports of shots fired at 1371 Market St SW. Upon arrival, officers observed multiple unsupervised/unaccompanied juveniles igniting and discharging fireworks at several locations on the property and into the crowd.

Additional officers responded to the scene for assistance and the juveniles began to disperse. There were no reported injuries at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Update:

A small group of juveniles who dispersed from 1371 Market St SW made their way towards Spring St NW and 17th St NE where their actions escalated to gunfire causing damages to nearby businesses including a vehicle in the area. Only property damages are being reported at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
