Preliminary information: On Sunday, February 8, 2026, at approximately 6:45 a.m., Atlanta Police Zone 3 officers responded to a report of shots fired at 160 Ruzelle Dr SE. Upon arrival, officers located a 10-year-old child in critical condition suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers immediately rendered aid and applied a chest seal to the wound. With assistance from Atlanta Fire and Rescue, officers transported the child via patrol vehicle to Grady Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is now in stable condition.

 

Preliminary investigation suggests this was a targeted shooting related to an escalating dispute between two parties. The investigation is active and ongoing.
