On 04/13/26, around 8:13pm, officers were dispatched to 2944 Landrum Drive in reference to a wanted person, Barbara Edwards. Edwards was taken into custody and charged with Cruelty to Children, Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a convicted Felon. Jermaine Hardeman is not in custody as this time.
Homicide Investigators were able to establish probable cause and obtain arrest warrants for 71-year-old Barbara Edwards and 35-year-old Jermaine Hardeman. They are both being charged with Felony Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree.
Preliminary information: On April 5, 2026, at approximately 12:37 a.m., Atlanta Police Zone 3 officers responded to a report of a person shot near the 900 block of Washington ST SW. Upon arriving on the scene, officers located a 3-year-old who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. The child was transported to the hospital by ambulance where medical personnel pronounced the child deceased.
Investigators with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
