ARREST UPDATE:
On Sunday, April 12, 2026, homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for a 14-year-old juvenile in connection with the fatal shooting at 1899 Lathrop St SE. He was charged with Murder, taken into custody, and transported to the Metro Youth Detention Center, where he was transferred into their custody without incident

Preliminary information: On Saturday, April 11, 2026, at approximately 1:49 PM, Atlanta police were dispatched to a report of a person shot at 1899 Lathrop St SE. Upon arrival, officers located a 12-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was transported to the hospital in critical condition and, despite lifesaving efforts, was pronounced deceased. Preliminary investigation revealed the shooting occurred inside of the residence. Investigators are in the process of questioning the juvenile and adults that were inside of the location during the shooting. The investigation remains active and ongoiing.
