Arrest update: The injured male located at the scene was identified as William Shuemake (10/1979). Mr. Shuemake was taken into custody at the hospital and has been charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

Preliminary information: On April 24, 2026, at approximately 7:33 p.m., Atlanta Police Zone 5 officers responded to a report of a person shot at 844 Vedado Way NE. Upon arriving on the scene, officers located an adult female victim inside the residence who has sustained an apparent gunshot wound. Responding medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. Additionally, an adult male was located inside the residence. The male had sustained an apparent stab wound. The male was transported for care in stable condition.
Preliminary investigation indicates the incident may be the result of a domestic dispute.
Investigators with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation continues.
