Arrest update: On April 27, 2026, Homicide Unit detectives secured arrest warrants for Elijah Wilbon (4/2004) for his connection to January 15, 2026, homicide at 2685 Beeler Dr. SW. Mr. Wilbon has been charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Mr. Wilbon is currently in custody at Cherokee County Jail on unrelated charges.

Preliminary information: On January 15, 2026, at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers responded to 2685 Beeler Dr. SW in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a 55-year-old male who sustained an apparent gunshot wound. The male was unresponsive and was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel. Investigators with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
