Investigation update: On May 13, 2026, the fatal shooting at 822 White St. NW on May 2, 2026, was classified as a homicide. Adiditionally, Atlanta Police Homicide Unit investigators secured arrested warrants for Michael Smith (9/1966) for Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commissiong of a Felony.

Preliminary information: On May 2, 2026, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Atlanta Police Zone 4 officers responded to a report of a person shot at 822 White St. SW. Upon arriving on the scene, officers located a male victim who had sustained multiple apparent gunshot wounds. Responding medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. Investigators with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
