Preliminary statement: On May 2, 2026, officers in the area of 50 Alabama St. SW heard gunfire and responded to the location. Upon arriving on the scene, officers located a 21-year-old male victim who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance in stable condition. Preliminary investigation indicates a verbal dispute involving a suspect known to the victim escalated to gunfire. Investigators with the Aggravated Assault Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
