Arrest Update: Felon Killed by Private Citizen: 230 18th St. NW

Arrest update: On May 5, 2026, members of the Atlanta Police Department’s Fugitive Unit arranged the apprehension of Cortez Watkins (3/2002) at the Georgia Department of Community Supervision office. Mr. Watkins has been charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
 
Arrest update: On May 4, 2026, Erica Norwood (4/1993) self-surrendered to Fulton County Jail on charges related to the March 30, 2026, incident at 230 18th St. NW. Ms. Norwood has been charged with Possession of Marijuana (x2) and Tampering with Evidence.
 
Update: On April 21, 2026, Homicide investigators reclassified the March 30, 2026, fatal shooting at 230 18th St. NW to be an incident of a felon killed by private citizen. Additionally, investigators secured arrest warrants for Cortez Watkins (3/2002) and Erica Norwood (4/1993) for their connection to the incident.
 
Preliminary information: On March 30, 2026, at approximately 5:47 p.m., Atlanta Police Zone 5 officers responded to a report of multiple people shot at 230 18th St. NW. Upon arriving on the scene, officers located three adult victims who had all sustained apparent gunshot wounds. A female and male victim were transported to the hospital by ambulance alert, conscious, and breathing. A second male victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries. Investigators with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
