Preliminary information: On May 23, 2026, at approximately 11:47 p.m., Atlanta Police Zone 4 officers responded to a report of a person shot near 535 Lee St. SW. Upon arrival, officers located a 49-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the shoulder. Officers also located a 44-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the hand. Both males were alert, conscious, and breathing and were transported to the hospital by ambulance. The individuals provided officers with conflicting accounts regarding how the incident occurred. Investigators with the Aggravated Assault Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
