Update: On June 1, 2026, at approximately 6:33 p.m., Atlanta Police Zone 4 officers stopped a vehicle near Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. NW & Lynhurst Dr. SW and detained a person in relation to the incident on Stafford St. SW. The investigation remains active and ongoing. 

 

Preliminary information: On June 1, 2026, at approximately 4:57 p.m., Atlanta Police Zone 1 officers responded to a report of a person shot near 76 Stafford St SW. Upon arriving on the scene, officers located an adult male victim who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene. Investigators with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
