Traffic Accident Report #211560875

Preliminary information:  On June 5, 2021 at around 8:37 a.m., officers were dispatched to 1211 W. Wesley Rd NW on a person shot call.  Upon arrival, officers located an adult male alert, conscious and breathing with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment.  Preliminary investigation indicates the gunshot victim along with two others were shot at while jogging in the area with only the one male being struck by gunfire.  The suspect is believed to be a black male with a dreadlocks hairstyle, driving a newer model silver Hyundai sedan.  Investigators were notified and will be working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.  The investigation continues. 

Please keep in mind the above information is preliminary in nature and can change as the investigation progresses and new information comes to light.

UPDATE: Investigators identified 22-year-old Gaelen Newsom as the shooter in this case and secured Fulton County arrest warrants for:

-Aggravated Assault

-Murder/Criminal Attempt  to commit murder

-Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a crime. 

The gunshot victim was identified as Andrew Worrell and he is listed in stable condition.

For Newsom's role in shooting at the two additional joggers at 880 W. Wesley Rd NW and 1265 W. Wesley Rd NW, Newsom was charged with:

-Two counts of Aggravated Assault

-Two counts of Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a crime

 Victims were identified as Larry Santiago and Christopher Bosworth.  They did not sustain any injuries.
