Preliminary Information: On August 12, 2026, at approximately 10:56 p.m., officers responded to I-85 South near Metropolitan Pkwy on reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male lying on the interstate. Responding medical personnel pronounced the male deceased on the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates the male was struck by an unknown vehicle while in the far-left lane and was subsequently struck by an unknown number of additional vehicles. The Accident Investigations Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
